Standard Porta Potty Rental, Westminster, CO
The standard unit is the one nearly everyone pictures: a plastic booth with a door, a vent on the roof and a tank underneath. Here is what people ask about it most.
What comes inside one?
- A seat and lid over the waste tank
- A small urinal on the wall
- A paper dispenser
- A roof vent to carry odor up and out
- A latch with an indicator that reads occupied or vacant
Some units come with a sanitizer pump mounted inside. It is not always included, so speak up if you want one.
How much room does it take?
Not much. A standard unit takes up about as much ground as an old phone booth. Leave a little space in front so the door can swing open.
Where should I set it?
Somewhere level and firm that a truck can get near. Lawn, gravel, packed dirt or blacktop are all fine if the ground doesn't tilt. The driver comes back to pump it and later to collect it, so a spot near the drive or the curb saves everyone trouble.
What does a service visit involve?
On a rental that runs a week or longer, the technician pumps out the tank, wipes down the inside and puts in fresh paper. A one-day party unit generally skips all that; it is set down and fetched afterward. Heavy use calls for an extra visit, so mention your headcount.
Can I move it myself once it's there?
Better not. A unit with anything in the tank is heavy and sloshes. Ask the provider to shift it on their next visit.
